Hello loves! We’re chatting ‘My Everyday Vegan Makeup Favorites’ today!
The last time I blogged about my favorite vegan makeup (here), some ladies weren’t happy with the brands I chose to support.
While I totally understand their reasonings, I go off of what works for my combination skin, even if the products aren’t 100% “natural” or are owned by larger parent companies who (unfortunately) may perform animal testing. My money is still going toward the cruelty free vegan brand, and that has to count for something, no? I must pick and choose my battles within the vegan lifestyle and wellness realms because makeup makes me happy!
So while everything I’m sharing today is vegan and cruelty-free, the products may not be absolutely perfect in the ingredient department, but they are far better than most well-known brands! My standards may not be as strict as yours, but I try my best.
This everyday makeup routine takes me about 10 minutes. It’s not very “glam” since I like to keep it simple and prefer a more natural look. Rarely will I wear eyeshadow and I have no intentions of contouring my face anytime soon, but I love me some big eyelashes that pop! Mascara is my most prized possession… and I’m constantly trying new brands (like Lily Lolo – I’ve got my eye on you!).
While I have been perusing the clean beauty website called Credo Beauty and have dozens of goodies sitting in my cart, the products I’m sharing today are my tried and true favorites for skin that tends to be on the oilier side. Seriously though, check out Credo beauty when you can. One of the founding members of Sephora started it and they never carry products with known harmful ingredients while only stocking brands that never test on animals. It makes clean beauty shopping so much easier!
Let’s get to it.
♥
Primer & Concealer
After moisturizing with this wondrous elixir, the primer I keep coming back to is the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Their mattifying formula feels luxuriously silky and glides onto skin, filling in pores and creating the smoothest base for foundation. Definitely worth the slightly higher price tag!
For concealer, I switch off between Tarte Shape Tape and NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, which I tend to prefer more as I feel like the NARS formula doesn’t crease and matches my skin tone better. I love both but when using the Tarte Shape Tape, I have to make sure my under eyes are super hydrated, or else it will look dry and flakey. Both provide great coverage and if you’re into contouring, you probably know the Shape Tape comes in SO many shades!
I usually apply concealer with my fingers… (or on a good day, with these concealer brushes ha).
Foundation
Next up, foundation! I often mix the Tarte Amazonian Clay and Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation together on the top of my hand and apply with this foundation brush from Eco Tools, for a flawless, even complexion! They balance each other out as the Immaculate can sometimes dry too powdery and matte while Tarte’s Amazonian Clay foundation stays more dewy, so I get the best of both worlds by mixing the two. I love finding what works with my skin! Mixing them is probably a big no-no in the makeup world, but it works so why not.
For days when I want something lighter and am just out and about running errands, I opt for the RMS Tinted “Un” Powder or the Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation (shown below) but am also eyeing the Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation. Have you guys tried them?! What’s your favorite clean mineral powder foundation?!
Blotting Powder, Bronzer, Blush & Highlighter
As mentioned above, I sometimes use the Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation on lighter days, or when working out. For touch-ups and shininess (and if you’re an oily girl like me!), I go super cheap with the NYX Blotting Powder (not shown because it hangs in my purse and I totally forgot to grab it for pictures!) but it works better than most of the expensive blotting powders, for sure!
For bronzer, I’m loving the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess, because it’s not glittery – I can’t handle sparkle all over my face, especially if it tends to be oily… eek. This bronzer adds a nice subtle sunkissed glow to my cheekbones, upper forehead and down my nose. As far as blush, my skin works better with cooler pink tones rather than orange-y tones, so I still love the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Fearless and have used it for years. This blush adds some warmth back into my face!
And of course I had to include a highlighter stick from Cover FX! Specifically the Enhance Click Highlighter in Blossom, for the bridge of my nose, my cupids bow (above the lips), high cheek bones and eyebrow bones for an illuminating glow. I absolutely love this stick!!
Mascara and Lip Paint
I don’t buy all things Tarte on purpose… I just love their products. Especially their mascara, specifically the Tarteist Lash Paint. It’s ultra black which I love and super volumizing, which I need! I’m not really looking for length since my lashes are pretty long (due to the plant based life, I swear!) but I’m going for big lashes and this does the trick. I so wish fake lashes could work for me but I like to rub my eyes too much and I know I’d screw up the fake lashes, plus I feel like it’s a never ending addiction that I’m not trying to fall into, ya know?
So for now, I’ll use coats and coats of mascara and pretend ha. Do you guys get your lashes done?
For lips, I’m pretty plain and often lather on coconut oil when they’re feeling dry, but if I’m feeling fancy, I love a nude pinkish tint, so I go with the Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Namaste (the perfect nude!) and the Lip Crayon in Boho – such a pretty combo and the lip paint stays put!
What is your favorite clean lip balm?! I obviously need one as I can’t carry jars of coconut oil around with me ha!
Hope you love this makeup post as much as I do!
Would love to hear your thoughts and please share your favorite, holy grail, vegan and cruelty free makeup products with us below 🙂

Thanks for sharing your favourite vegan makeup products Shannon!
I appreciate your point about trying our best when it comes to ingredients – making the switch to these brands, even If every single ingredient isn’t perfect, is definitely better than most standard brands!
To address your question about lip balms, while I don’t know if they sell lip balms, I’ve heard 100% Pure do great lipsticks – I checked their ingredients and I was really impressed.
Just to let your readers know, a lot of popular lipsticks are NOT vegan – many contain ingredients like lanolin oil (sheep glands) and carmine (crushed bugs)! Just for your vegan readers who do love a lippie, we recently posted a piece exposing some of the ingredients you may want to avoid:

Thanks again for sharing your vegan faves!

When I started looking for vegan makeup I found way more option that I thought I would, and here I am once more finding so many different vegan stuff. I love it, thanks for sharing!

I’ve heard recently NARS is no longer cruelty free because in order to sell in China they have to do animal tests. I’d love to hear I am wrong but in case it is true I thought you’d want to know.

It’s true 🙁 Nars is no longer cruelty free as of June 2017 because they now sell in China. So disappointed in them. #boycottnars
