The Glow Down: Workout Routine, Probiotics, Where I Shop

    Oct 21, 2016 • The Glow Down

Coffee Flower Flatlaypicture from Dominika Brudny

Grab a cup of coffee, tea, a smoothie (or wine!) and find a cozy spot for my new weekly chit chat series “The Glow Down” aka the lowdown on everything and anything you guys have been asking me lately.

This is a fun series where I answer questions, give tips, offer my thoughts/advice, etc. Really though, it’s super casual and can be about anything from the plant based vegan lifestyle to my 5-Day Cleanse or Vegan Starter Guide to beauty/girly stuff to cooking tips to my favorite products and home things, blogging stuff or how to find something here on the blog, even what shirt or sweater I was wearing on Snapchat…

Leave a comment below with questions for next week’s post or contact me here if you want to remain anonymous (my email is theglowingfridge@gmail.com). You can message me on facebook, instagram, snapchat (glowingfridge) or twitter too… you name it, anything goes! I’m trying to build up the community we already have here on TGF so it remains a helpful resource for you guys! It would mean a lot if you sent in questions or thoughts etc. 🙂 Plus I love reading these on other blogs because they normally answer questions I never even knew I had! 🙂

Hope you are having a great week so far!

    Let’s get started.

What probiotic do you recommend for the 5-Day Cleanse?

I get this question every single week! I usually recommend probiotics with at least 1 billion live cultures, preferably from Whole Foods or any health food store as they will have a better vegan probiotic selection. A $15-$20 bottle is fine! I currently have the Rainbow Light brand (it’s vegan & gluten-free) and like it a lot! The NOW Foods probiotic is good too. If you don’t feel like buying probiotics then you can do one of two things:

    1) eat raw sauerkraut on salads (or on its own – about 1/4 cup per day) I’m addicted to the Smoked Jalape?o kraut from Farmhouse Culture. You can find it at Mariano’s, Whole Foods or Fresh Market. Just make sure to get a brand that is raw as it will contain live probiotics (cultures) or else it defeats the whole purpose! or

    2) drink 1/2 bottle of kombucha each day which also contains raw probiotics, which I now prefer over pills! Your choice!

    What is your workout routine?

I like to get in 2-3 gym workouts per week and 1-2 home workouts. My boyfriend goes to the gym every day… UGH… LOL. Although, I will say Terry has been my motivation this past year to keep going. Now that I’ve moved, we workout together a few days a week which has been nice because he acts as my own personal trainer! I think it really helps to have a gym partner. I do love working out and feel so good afterward but sometimes, especially in the winter, it takes a lot to get me there. I would rather pull my hair out than go to the gym every day after work… LOL so I do what works for me which is a few days a week.

At the gym, I do things I can’t do at home, mostly weight lifting. I train a lot of legs and booty because its my fave. Terry makes me do everything though – shoulders, back, chest… things that I never really focused on before. I do cardio when I’m not training legs which is usually 15-20 minutes of intervals on the stair master but no more than that!

At home I can do yoga/pilates, core work, planks, push ups, stretching etc. Sometimes I’ll do a HIIT workout at home (like this one or this one) and extra booty videos (like this one or this one).

What camera do you use for pictures and video?

The white Samsung NX300M. I use it for all my blog photos and videos. It’s mirrorless and comes with Smart Wifi, also has a selfie mode which makes life easier for videos so you can see where your head is placed in the shot! Photography is fun and creative but also very challenging. I’m constantly learning and trying to gain experience. This camera is perfect for me right now, even though it’s not the most professional, I plan to upgrade eventually! For instagram pictures, I use both my camera and/or iPhone.

Where do you go for baking inspiration?

Pinterest! Always. You can follow me here. Sometimes I’ll look at other food blogs or scroll through instagram but mainly Pinterest because I have a zillion boards with enough recipe inspo to last a lifetime. It often sparks a reminder for one recipe I wanted to tweek or brings up a new idea for me to try. Love it.

Where is the pastel striped mexican blanket from that shows up in your pictures?

You mean this one from Gunn and Swain?! I’m in love with it. Love this one and this one too.

Where are your black/grey aztec leggings from in your instagram pic?

I was on a quest to find them online but had no luck!! 🙁 They are by a brand called The Balance Collection which you can find at Nordstrom Rack. These leggings look similar though. Love these too!

What hair care products do you use? How do you add volume to your hair?

I recently shared two haircare posts that will answer those questions in more depth! One with my Hair Care Secrets for Long, Healthy Hair and one with my Vegan Hair Products I Love. I use only natural vegan and cruelty-free products. Volume starts with the right shampoo! Texturizing spray like this one and dry shampoo like this one from Acure also help in a major way.

    Where do you shop?

Nordstrom Rack all the way! TJ Maxx too but I also do way too much online shopping at Lulu’s, ASOS, PacSun, Revolve, Forever21 and Missguided, just to name a few. Ha.

    ?

That’s it for now. I’ll include more of the questions you guys sent in next week’s post!

Let me know, did you like this? Do you want to see more posts like this one?

    Happy weekend, muah!

Just found your blog…LOVE it! I have been vegan for 4 months now and it has been amazing. I just read your why I went vegan post and I can definitely relate! Learning about the massive problems relating to industry and government made me sick.
After reading this post and about where you like to shop, I encourage you to watch The True Cost -it’s on Netflix:). It is basically the fashion version of documentaries like Cowspiracy, Forks Over Knives, Food Inc, etc. I would love to hear your thoughts on it after you watch it.

Did your hair stop growing? Mine was stuck at the Did your hair stop growing?

Mine was stuck at the same length too for a while. But now I know your scalp is an extension of your skin and needs to be nourished and taken care of in order for healthy hair growth. The scalp ages 6x faster than the skin on your face 🤯 it needs love and care, too. Especially if you want length and strength.

My hair oil is unique and made of different botanicals, antioxidants, omegas and nutrients your scalp is craving. If your hair is struggling but you eat healthy, you may want to consider a hair oil to fill in the gaps. I’ve noticed new thickness and growth from it being nourished and fed nutrients from within. The SHINE is the most surprising part!!! It’s honestly jaw-dropping. It keeps getting better because it’s a LIQUID VITAMIN for all hair types.

Figuring out the right custom plan for you is key. I want to help customize a plan for you because everyone should experience these results.

I don’t need to be a girl boss or CEO of a company that separates us all day. I’m a mommy first and I sell shampoo, second. It’s actually the best of both worlds because I get to raise her and also have an income of my own.

There will always be some new trend or way to make money online. But are they sustainable? Or just a way to make a quick buck? One thing we all have in common is we all want to build a long-term sustainable business to make an income from home! We all sell shampoo, we all want different things for our families and we all took a leap of faith in starting our beauty businesses. And we all started somewhere. Instead of chasing the newest ways to make money, it’s so much more authentic to share something you love and use daily 👄🧴🫧🧖‍♀️

If you love beauty products and have a go-getter attitude, we need to talk!! I want to teach you how to do this.
