Interview with Kristi of The Glow Life

    Aug 6, 2014 • Uncategorized, Wellness & Lifestyle

I am so happy to be sharing something a little different today, hope you will love it! I have started a new interview series featuring some of my favorite bloggers and lovely ladies that I look up to. It’s a fun way to learn about other healthy lifestyle bloggers who share the same interests we do. Vegan or not, everyone I will feature believes in living a whole, balanced lifestyle filled with real, organic foods, lots of fruits and veggies, regular exercise and plenty of sleep.

Today I am featuring my sweet friend, Kristi, from The Glow Life! We connected on instagram when I first started blogging and share a mutual love for that special “glow” that shows through with optimal nutrition. I love her site and her outlook on life! She shares her “Glow Potion” Recipe with us (super delish) and how The Glow Life came to be. Also, I’m superrr jealous she lives in Cali, if you have been reading my blog for a while, you know I have always dreamed of living in Cali. The lifestyle, the weather, the beaches, the FRESH fruits and vegetables.. Ahhhh. I will get there 🙂

    And here’s Kristi! Pretty lady!

    Kristi

    Introduce yourself.

I?m Kristi ? CEO of The Glow Life (www.discoverglowlife.com). I am a nutritionist, wannabee chef and transformation specialist!

    Instagram: @theglowlifeLA

    Twitter: @theglowlife

    Facebook: www.facebook.com/theglowlife

Tell us about your transformation to a healthy lifestyle and how The Glow Life came to be.

To be honest, my transformation happened a lot later than I would have liked! After suffering from an eating disorder through high school and medicals scares galore, I decided to wake up and smell the green smoothies! The last 3-4 years of my life were dedicated to discovering exactly what my body loves when it comes to food, fuel, and self-care!

The Glow Life was born out of pure passion for vibrant living and dedication to conquering my health. I am completely obsessed with helping others find what makes their spirits sing and what foods work with their bodies! It?s truly the best feeling to wake up feeling amazing every single day and I want everyone to feel that!

    Daily inspiration/motivation to live healthy?

My dad taught me that hard work and a smile goes a long way. He is one of the happiest people I know and truly loves the simple things in life. I promise to never waste another day eating crap that makes me feel horrible and truly live alongside the people I love the most.

The motto over at The Glow Life is ?Eat well. Laugh hard.? It?s such a simple recipe to stay healthy. I am inspired by my followers (#glowlifer forever) fellow bloggers (like you) and holistic nutritionists swimming upstream with me in the health movement. It?s wonderful to know so many share the same passion for defining true health. I am also very committed to ?walking my walk.? I practice what I preach and hope to set an example for everyone around me.

What?s a typical workday like for you?

It?s funny to think that what I do is actually work!

6:30am: I head straight to the kitchen to drink a full glass of water. I may add a little lemon or ginger if I?m feeling it. I spend about 30-45 minutes being with myself, packing lunch for my love, and meandering around the house (recently I have been learning to meditate!).

7:30am ? 12:00pm: Checking emails, blogging, improving The Glow Life website, reaching out to inspirational entrepreneurs in the health world to collaborate with and developing my online programs that are coming soon! During this time I have a snack that consists of a piece of whole grain bread with nut butter, a green smoothie, or some fresh veggies!

Lunch: Usually leftover dinner from the night before or an insane salad I whip up real quick. I have never been a huge lunch person and prefer to graze throughout the day.

1:00pm ? 4:00pm ? More Glow Life! Owning your own company is quite a bit of work, but it feels so liberating and I am passionate about inspiring others so the time really flies! Again, I snack ?

5:00pm ? 6:00pm ? Hit the pavement for some exercise! Whether it is a beach run, yoga class, or simply going for a walk, I try to get moving at least an hour a day.

7:00pm and beyond: Time with my love! I cook almost every night so we enjoy a technology free dinner followed by a ton of talking and laughing. We always have so much to catch up on!

    10:00pm ? Lights out!

Best thing about living in Cali?!

California allows me to live the way I love and be exactly who I am. There are so many healthy restaurants, juice bars, local shops, and inspirations on every corner. It?s very typical to see a pink haired, tattooed, half-cheetah half-person on a unicycle and be like ? hell yes! Plus, living by the ocean with the man of my dreams is a DREAM!

    What?s your weekly workout routine?

Honestly, I just try to move any way that I can! I go with what I am feeling at the moment (typical Sagittarius). My favorites now? Power yoga, Circuit works, and beach volley!

Tell us what you typically eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I am definitely a grazer so I eat 6-7 times a day. I found that just works better for my body!

Breakfast. overnight oats or green smoothie

Lunch: Dinner leftovers or a huge vegetable salad

Dinner: Sky?s the limit! I love turkey enchiladas, veggie chili, and pizza! It?s all about the ingredients!

    Favorite dessert?

CHOCOLATE, chocolate, and more chocolate! Haha! I seriously cannot thank cacao enough for existing! Theo out of Seattle makes the best chocolate bar. Plus, there?s a million bloggers out there making all kinds of crazy cocoa balls, cake pops, and freeze pops! How cool!

Would you ever consider the plant-based diet?

I am a firm believer in no one diet works for anyone. How is it even possible since we are all made up of completely different DNA?! I do however believe in insane amounts of vegetables and plant based protein in general. At the moment, I eat organic lean animal products once or twice a week but definitely could consider living without them if that?s what my body told me to do. It may happen one day!

Will you share your ?Glow Potion? recipe with us?!

Absolutely! This recipe seriously saves my life all the time. Whether I am sick, traveling, or feeling blah ? it?s my go-to for ramping up my body!

    Ingredients

    1/2 cup almond milk

    1/2 cup filtered water

    1 tbsp. turmeric

    1 tsp. cinnamon

    1 tsp. grated ginger

    1 green tea bag

    Directions:

Place all ingredients except tea bag in a blender and blend. Then, place the “golden” liquid in a pot over medium heat and heat until hot.

Add green tea bag and steep for 3-5 minutes.

Pour into your favorite cup and enjoy enjoy hot!

*Please choose all organic ingredients when possible*

*Feel free to add a little maple syrup to sweeten*

    Glow Potion.jpg

That looks so bright and refreshing! I need to make this Glow Potion asap!

A huge thanks to Kristi for this interview!

yes, being a mama will always be my #1 priority bu yes, being a mama will always be my #1 priority but in that I’ve sort of lost myself.

It’s my own doing too so don’t feel bad for me 😂 because it truly never felt right to leave my girl. We are very attached. Am I crazy? Yes, probably. But I’m okay with that. I realized my baby will be FINE if I go get a professional haircut or a pampering pedicure. Idk what changed but I think it’s the fact that I’m noticing more wrinkles and my hair could use a transformation. It’s greasy, heavy and lacking life. So I’m getting a haircut this week 💇‍♀️ I’m changing to a customized hair care system AND I’m scheduling a hydra facial because my skin desperately needs hydration. My skin, hair and nervous system need some serious self care haha.

Mamas, it may not feel right just yet to prioritize you but the time will come. Just follow your intuition 🖤🖤🖤 you deserve it.

what are you guys up to today?! I’m installing our new shower filter that I can’t wait to share about, running errands, cleaning, thinking about dinner, the usual Sunday things 💗💗💗
HANDLE NAME CHANGE!! I’ve been wanting to do th HANDLE NAME CHANGE!!

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while as a fresh start with all the changes to my “brand” in the last year. It feels right to just use my name 😀 (fun fact: I haven’t taken my hubbys last name yet because of business paperwork that I’m too lazy to figure out 😅 name changes are complicated)

@theglowingfridge started out of my love for the plant based lifestyle but so much has changed in the last 9 years and I’ve been itching to update. Nothing else will change and my blog will still remain as is, if you still use my recipes and such. Love you all and thank you for supporting me through all these changes 🤍🤍🤍

what I eat for gut health, happy hormones, healthy what I eat for gut health, happy hormones, healthy skin & hair, and to be a patient mama 🖤

When my blood sugar is on a nasty rollercoaster, I’m not the best mama that I know I should be for my girl. I’m more irritable and short. So I prioritize protein, healthy fats and carbs at each meal. This helps me feel balanced and provides energy to play and chase after her all day! I need all the fuel I can get.

- breakfast tacos with pastured eggs
- collagen king coffee ☁️
- leftover homemade chicken fried rice
- swedish meatballs & gf pasta & green beans
- my homemade tahini maple cookies (I have a reel with the recipe!!) but I’m truly addicted 🍪
- always sipping on @gerolsteiner_usa 💧

    I don’t get ready everyday… But when I do I f I don’t get ready everyday…

But when I do I feel better, duh! And more confident. More productive. Happier in general. Of course I have super lazy days but I try to get myself together because I’m more likely to leave the house, you know mamas? I hate when people ask “why do you get ready if you’re home all day”..

I’m sharing different content like this because I feel like it and don’t want to be stuck in a box 😀

I mean if you drink it everyday… It should be o I mean if you drink it everyday…

It should be organic, mold-free, tested for mycotoxins and taste delicious, etc. King coffee goes a step further with a therapeutic dose of reishi spores, the most powerful and potent part of reishi mushroom! Most other companies use the lucidum part of reishi, in case you’re wondering 👑

Want more info? DM me “king” and I’ll send you the deets 🤍🤍🤍
