Hiiii!! I’ve been so eager to get back here to the blog! Life has been wild lately with many ‘wtf is going on’ type moments and all sorts of weird life mishaps. I haven’t been posting much at all the past few weeks.. this month has tested my willpower, my relationships and my mind.. but I promise I will get back to a regular schedule as soon as life is somewhat normal again.
I want to share what has been going on and I will share the full story eventually (not yet; for safety reasons) but first things first.. Cancun!! Talk about TOTAL paradise. White sands, perfectly HOT weather with no humidity, beautiful sunrises, too many margaritas + no sugar mojitos plus a whole lotta chips and guac and salsa. I was one happy girl. Marty and I stayed at the The Royal Sands Resort in a timeshare with my bestie and her boyfriend – we all decided we must book another future trip to the resort because it was way too perfect.
The mini 6-passenger plane for our connecting flight to Cancun which was thrilling/terrifying at the same time.
The beautiful view from our room.
The week was fun and blissful and I completely let go, laughed until my stomach hurt and felt free. We adventured and snorkeled, swam and bounced around in the waves everyday, lounged, ate too much, drank too much, danced on the balcony, went to luxurious dinners (taking full advantage of the all-inclusive!) made new friends and lived.it.up. I felt bikini ready from all those Green Detox Smoothies I was loving before we left!
As far as the food goes, the resort offered a few veggie-friendly options but most of them had cheese/butter and they were already pre-prepared, so unless we went out to dinner, I was eating lots of fresh salads (to the point where I was sick of salads!!) tropical fruit, potatoes and veggies – this was amazing and thank goodness they had fresh options but I sure missed my smoothies + lemon water + quinoa + lentils. A girl can only eat so much pineapple!! Not complaining though, I’m lucky they offered super fresh options. I only managed to snap 2 pics of what I ate because I rarely had my phone on me (hello beach livin’).
Here’s one of them – The green juice was super sweet which I’m not used to but it was still amazing. Have you ever tried papaya? The smell turned me away but it doesn’t taste bad once you get past the nasty smell. Those coconut waffles were way too good.
and here’s our last breakfast on the balcony with fresh tropical fruit, granola, grapefruit juice and black coffee for me 🙂 this really didn’t fill me up though, I needed a second breakfast soon after.
I don’t enjoy being that person who has a special request while eating out (are you the same?) I don’t mind doing it a couple times but after a while even I was sick of hearing myself say no meat, cheese or butter please.. then hoping the waiters understood my request. While eating out the food was always delicious, they were very friendly and accommodating and the views were beautiful. The resort didn’t offer non-dairy milk alternatives which was disappointing but I managed without it. Plus I lived without any sweets (besides the dark chocolate bar I brought) for a whole week! The drinking made up for that though… no sugar mojitos are the way to go 😉 thanks to my bestie Alli for introducing me!
We woke up early one morning to catch the sunrise before we were off to snorkel the coral reefs, it was pretty magical.
As per usual on vacation, the week flew by and soon enough we were packing up and heading off for a long day of travel. We finally made it home late Saturday night, drove to pick up our fur babies and crashed in bed. I’m happy to be back home with my blendtec, green smoothies galore and home cooked meals.
Marty and I have some abrupt changes happening and I’m excited/nervous to see how things turn out but I have a good feeling everything will work out for the better. Sometimes life throws curve balls your way to change your path and close a certain chapter so that a fresh chapter can be written. I’m a firm believer in everything happening for a reason – even if that reason is momentarily unclear. All these changes are lining up with what we’ve talked about/planned and worked for over the past few years. Must be all that manifesting we’ve been focusing on! Your thoughts truly do become your reality… the new energy gives me the chills actually. We are both very healthy and playing on the same team so I’m riding this wave of happiness from vacation, following my intuition, staying grateful and keeping a positive mindset during this time of transition. I’ll keep you updated on what’s to come.
Are you going on vacation? Where is your favorite getaway spot? I would love to hear!

I don’t typically take a vacation per say because I don’t have a typical job. I scrounge really – I don’t make much and couldn’t support myself without my husband. (I mean I could if I had to but it would mean going back to a typical job as a graphic designer or really upping my game big time. I think it would have to be the latter because I don’t think I could go back to a typical job.) I am an artist and a gardener. The gardener part allowed me to escape winter this year and my most favorite place (escape) in the whole world right now is Cedar Key, Florida. I am home now in the beautiful, if still frozen, 1000 Islands in upstate NY (another place I love), but I miss Cedar Key. I am not-so-patiently waiting for Spring to happen here at home. I love Mexico and have never been to Cancun but hope to get back to Puerto Vallarta some day. I am so happy you had one of those life changing vacations! Wishing you well and peace and happiness!

Wow, what a trip!! The pictures are gorgeous and snorkeling sounds awesome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and managed to navigate the vegan food thing without too much trouble. Best of luck with the changes to come!
