Am I dreaming or did Christmas already happen..?! How is it possible that the holidays fly by faster and faster every year? One day we’re rushing around, buying last minute gifts, scrambling to wrap them and the next minute it’s all over… then you wake up and it’s New Years Eve… and you still need a dress!!!
Plus, you need resolutions and goals.
Do you sometimes roll your eyes about setting goals? Do you put it off because they never seem to stick? Or do you have specific goals that align with a plan?
The past couple of weeks, I’ve been feeling stranded in this eerie, uninspiring standstill.
I’ve been feeling uninspired because I’m not sure what is going to happen next in life… ha… shocker. No one knows exactly what will happen next in life… but I have a big picture of what I want to happen and have been visualizing it for a while. Sometimes all of it goes blank though.. so bizarre. I’m not one to just wait for things to happen… at least not anymore. I used to float through life and not really care because I was taking jobs that left me unhappy and unfulfilled. I didn’t see a point in planning goals. While that is not the case anymore, there are times where I end up in this eerie, in-between stage.
Last night I watched this video (a must-see; it changes your entire perspective on goal-setting, I promise!) and realized it’s mainly because I haven’t figured out a plan for how I want 2015 to go, but more importantly, how I want to feel. Visualizing how you want to feel is just as important as having a plan. Sometimes, there’s more to it than just having a goal. How you want to feel once you reach that goal is the whole point.
So I got to it. I closed my eyes and went through each section in life. I brainstormed and pictured all of it. Myself. My Health. My Lifestyle. My Relationships. My Career. Where I want to be. How I want to get there. How I want to feel throughout all of it. Then I got organized and started writing. It sounds silly but when you map out your life instead of waiting for things to happen, you are doing yourself a huge favor. You are opening up energy channels so opportunities can come your way. While it may seem like these opportunities just fall into your lap, you actually allowed the opportunities to swim towards you.
Nowadays, more than ever, I’m very much in tune with my intuition and am well aware that:
- I need to create happenings to achieve the life I want.
- I need to write out what I want to happen.
- I need to have a plan and set up life in a certain way so that the plan becomes available.
- I need to design my life and decide what type of energy I want to give off.
- I need to connect with my subconscious on a deeper level and listen to that inner guidance that all of us are blessed with.
If I don’t, then I feel lost, off balance and have nothing to move towards. When we feel connected and engaged, we thrive.
Floating at a standstill in life is so uncomfortably weird. Taking the time to figure out a plan eliminated those oddly blank feelings I had. A new energy washed over me. If you write down your goals and they leave you feeling bored rather than motivated, then you may have to dig deeper and truly figure out what you want. How do you envision your life? Your body? Do you want to commit to eating a healthier, plant-based diet this year? Who are you with? Where are you living? Have you changed jobs? Have you started your own business? How are you feeling? What are you willing to do in order to obtain your “dream” life?
If it scares you, that’s probably a good indication that you are moving in the right direction. Step away from being comfortable and be open to change, big or small, because that means you are one step closer to the life you so desire. Figure out the real reason you are scared so you can either reframe your mindset, overcome your fear or find a way to achieve your goal only if that fear can be uninvolved or eliminated from the overall picture.
This is all pretty spiritual and I’ve only recently opened the doors to serious goal setting and planning. Maybe it comes with age as I will turn 26 in January and I want to create this life now, not someday down the road. All of my life, my parents said “Someday…” and to this day, that word irks me. Why someday? Why not plan for it and manifest it now?!
I must say it feels satisfying to organize your mind and align your desires into a life plan. Aligning them with your significant other is also important so you can be on the same page and move forward together as one.
So if you are feeling or have ever felt eerie and uninspired, give this a shot and see what you come up with. It may take a few tries with lots of editing and introspection in between, but that feeling of ‘connection’ is powerful and carves out your future.
I hope you feel empowered and motivated to take on 2015 like I do!
Have you outlined how you want this year to go? What is your process? I would love to hear from you!

I love this post. Similar to you, I use the start of the New Year as a re-set button to reanalyze my goals and get closer to the life I want.
One of my goals for 2015 is to find and build a community of inspiring people through my passions, one being my blog – I am so excited to have “met” you and I look forward to following your exciting projects.

It’s great to see you reflecting on your life choices and determining where you want to be. Not too many people have the courage to start this process and this is what sets you apart from them and become special and awesome.
