My skin has gone through many phases… oily, dry, major acne, hormonal breakouts (um, literally the worst), blackheads, large pores, you name it, I’ve probably had it.
My skin remains somewhat of a mystery and seems to be changing constantly. Plus, I had one of the worst breakouts I’ve had in a long time earlier this week and talked about it on snapchat/insta stories. Although I do everything I can to take the best possible care of it, I never know what to expect.
Help?
While it’s a zillion times better than what it used to be back in high school (way less breakouts) and even better than what it was a year ago, I know there’s room for improvement in my overall complexion. At least I know it has been getting better (aside from this week’s flare up) but the process is annoyingly slow… LOL. You could say we’ve have a love-hate thing going on since I was 13… I’m trying to love my skin and treat it with care but sometimes I throw my hands up and surrender because I don’t know what it wants. More products? Less products? Moisturizer for oily skin? Or dry skin? Separate cream for eyes vs. whole face? Serum? Toner? Night cream? Day cream? More facials?
Its seriously exhausting.
BUT since I’ll be turning 28 in a few months (eek) I’ve been on the lookout to slowly incorporate more anti-aging products into my routine, which is a whole new realm for me because normally, I’m purely focusing on NOT breaking out so the anti-aging thing hasn’t been on my radar much. Probably should have started thinking about it years ago… but I feel like eating a plant based diet is one of the BEST things I can do internally for anti-aging and overall skin health, and the right products are just the icing on the cake – you know? What are your thoughts on that?
Anyways, the thing about trying new products is that it can trigger anxiety because of the possible breakouts/bad reactions it could lead to.. oh the price of beauty!
I do a fair amount of research before purchasing/trying a new product. Aside from needing the product to be vegan, cruelty free, and as natural as possible, I study the ingredients. I read the reviews. I consider every factor before taking the plunge. You could say I was nervous to try this Vitamin-C Serum from OzNaturals, but intrigued at the same time. The ingredients are right up my alley. The website answered my questions. There were rave reviews. It’s affordable.
I was leaning toward a potent antioxidant Vitamin C Serum because I know it increases collagen production which reduces wrinkles. Vitamin C also protects skin from free radicals and reverses previous sun exposure damage too. I’ve spent my fair share in the sun after having grown up at the lakehouse every summer since I can remember, so this is essential! I also wanted a serum with hyaluronic acid because it plumps the skin, speeds up cell turnover and balances moisture levels which is exactly what I need!
This Vitamin C Serum is a unique proprietary blend of:
- 20% Vitamin C (the most stable and bioavailable form)
- Astaxanthin – a super antioxidant
- Vitamin E
- Rose Hips
- Green Tea
- Hyaluronic Acid
The molecular structure of this serum penetrates further into the skin’s layers than a regular moisturizer which sits on top of the skin, making it super effective. While specifically designed to stimulate collagen production, it’s also intended to hydrate for softer, smoother and younger-looking skin. Can we just talk about how it leaves my skin with a glowy and dewy-like complexion? After wanting matte, non-oily skin for most of my life, I’m embracing this glowy complexion, only because it looks healthier but still is non-oily.
Plus, I love that the entire OzNaturals line is:
- vegan
- cruelty free
- gluten free
- paraben free
- sulfate free
- ethyl alcohol free
- naturally derived, high quality ingredients
- made in the USA
- non-GMO
- no synthetic fragrances
I’ve been using this serum for a few weeks now and overall, I love how it brightens dull skin, hydrates and softens to deliver a dewy, healthy and moisturized complexion. Sometimes, our healthy diets can only do so much and our skin needs a little extra help, which I’m okay with! Plus, no breakouts from this product specifically (I believe my breakouts are more diet and stress related at this point since I had a little too much candy this past weekend, which sparked a bad breakout).
My one complaint is that the serum dries a bit sticky, but that sticky feeling disappears after a few minutes, especially after applying moisturizer. The formula is clear, non-oily and has virtually no scent either, in case you were concerned about that aspect. If you are looking for a fresh and healthy product that feeds your skin and prevents/reduces wrinkles while giving a beautiful glow then I think you would love this Vitamin C Serum by OzNaturals. Be sure to check out their other products too – I’m dying to try the Ocean Mineral cleanser and tonic! And pretty much all of their products, since I’ve had good luck so far.
Happy Friday and happy weekend my loves!! Let me know if you end up trying this 🙂

Is it recommended that one still use a mosturizer with spf in addition to this serum?
Holly
My skin has been such a pest, too! I am so glad you did a post on this because it prompted me to order the serum (along with some other products) too! I cannot wait to try them!
Lexie
I want to try this! If you don’t mind my asking, what other face products do you use? (Moisturizer, cleanser, etc…) I’ve been looking into a new skin care routine, but I just can’t decide on which products/brands to get!
I have the same concerns as you. I often breakout from stress or if I eat poorly.
Thanks for the post!

Hey Lexie! I need to do a skincare product update on here (I have an older post with lots of info if you want to check it out here: https://www.theglowingfridge.com/natural-vegan-skincare-routine/) but lately I’ve changed it up with the OSEA Cleansing Mud cleanser, the vitamin C Serum from this post and the Wonder Seed hemp facial cream. Sometimes I use a Rosehip seed oil around my eyes and on dry patches that I got on amazon here: http://amzn.to/2dayhHx. The OSEA cleansing mud was life-changing though, you NEED to try that if anything! It’s the only product that keeps my breakouts away. Get it here: http://amzn.to/2ecS8vh. Anyways, hope that helps and I’ll be doing a whole updated skin product post soon!
xoxo

Thanks for the post! Do you think this would help with scarring?
Shannon Leparski
Hi Bobbi-Jean! I don’t see why not?! It helps with skin cell turnover so I think it would definitely help 🙂
