Wow I have missed blogging! The last time I blogged was in June when I shared Summer’s birth story…I think about blogging all the time and am having somewhat of an identity crisis at the moment… I will get more into that!
I also wanted to share some meal ideas because I’ve had a few questions about what to eat postpartum? And how to cycle sync without a cycle?
First off, no need to cycle sync if you don’t have your cycle back yet. I personally feel like that would create unnecessary stress. And not sure how that would work exactly? Unless you pretended as if you had a cycle but again, there are more important things to worry about postpartum. Like your newborn baby! Your health! Your mental health! And sometimes just getting in whatever meal you can. There are days when I literally eat whatever I can find… mom life, you know? I’m often sitting in the rocking chair while Summer is napping in my arms wishing I had a healthy smoothie but all I could grab was a quick protein bar. I try to make up for the lack of nutrition and actual substance at some point in the day because my body craves and needs real food! And lots of it. But honestly, some days I hardly have time to make my king coffee, let alone plan out phase-friendly meals around my non-existent cycle, you know?
Life seems to be getting a little easier now that Summer is 3 months old but again, mom life is a beautiful mess. All you need to be worrying about is making sure you are taking care of yourself as best you can. Eating real, whole foods and not as much processed food. This is my goal at the moment. Stick to the real plant foods and not as many protein bars because I just feel better that way. Once your cycle comes back then you can start to think about how to nourish your body for the phases but even then… your cycle may be wonky for a while… so give yourself grace! Just eat intuitively, go with the flow and cherish this precious time as a new mama, things will fall into place eventually. At least that is where my head is at. One day at a time mamas!
Quick commercial break because the world is so heavy right now… so much is weighing on my heart and I’ve had to take a break from sharing about such big topics on my instagram for many reasons… but just know that I stand with all of you and will not give away my medical freedom. There is a lot going on in all parts of the world and it’s suffocating to think about.
Okay so I think I’m having an identity crisis? I’m experiencing a lot of anxiety as Summer is now 3 months and this is when many mamas have to go back to work. I don’t know how they do it!! I really don’t because I’m SO NOT READY. I know most people don’t have a choice and thankfully I have multiple income streams but I thought at this point I would be getting ready to work with clients as an Integrative Health Practitioner. Um.. I can hardly put away my laundry right now. I can hardly find time to eat! How the frick am I going to work with clients? I’m just not there yet. I also cannot imagine being apart from Summer. This is the time when she has started babbling and laughing and smiling and we’re having so much fun!!! My heart literally melts for her every single day. Maybe there will be a time when I will feel ready to hire a part-time nanny? So I can work a few hours a couple times a week? I don’t know. How do you mamas do it? My heart cannot handle being away for her for even an hour. But that is where I’m at. Struggling with wanting to start my practitioner business but also wanting to be with my baby 24/7. I know many of you can relate to my feelings! Again, I’m not worrying and just taking life day by day. I think I will know when the time is right. I want to enjoy these moments as much as I can because she is all I’ve ever wanted and she’s here!! I want to eat her up.
Back to my postpartum eats. I CANNOT WAIT to start making recipes again but I’m just now starting to be able to do more in the kitchen while she plays on her play mat for a bit… she has started rolling over and it’s so stinking cute! Anyways, I don’t have too many pictures to share and I definitely am not eating fancy like I used to. It’s just whatever I can throw together. I wish I could make more of my recipes but lately it’s just my mashed chickpea salad, lentil pasta with sautéed veggies and spicy pasta sauce, Daily Harvest bowls, sautéed tofu on a salad, lots of veggie smoothies, avocado toast, vegan yogurt bowls with stewed berries and granola… That’s basically it haha. I know I’m probably lacking in protein and I try to work on it but I’m not perfect. My motto is “do the best you can”. So original right?
I also drink a lot of king coffee because it makes me feel human. Like a lot. Sometimes 3 per day and it makes me feel fan-freaking-tastic. No one will take away my coffee LOL. Also allll the spores and mycelium for headaches and anxiety and general well-being!
I hope to be back soon with some new fall-inspired recipes!!! Until then, miss you all!!!
