Skin Loving, Super Refreshing Green Juice Recipe. Vegan and Plant Based. Hydrating, energizing and packed with nutrients like turmeric for beautiful skin. Perfect for green juice beginners or green lovers alike! From The Glowing Fridge. #vegan #green #juice

    Happy FRI-YAY.

With spring in the air, I’ve been drawn to green juice like crazy this week. My body is cravinggggg them. All of a sudden, I need one everyday.

This vibrant blend was made to nourish your skin and bring about that yummy glow while giving you a boost of energy and tons of beauty-loving nutrients. I’ve been drinking this Skin Loving, Super Refreshing Green Juice everyday this week since sharing it sunday on Snapchat where it turned my tongue green (follow me: glowingfridge)!!!

BUT as much as I love greens, it’s funny how I go through phases with green juice. I chatted more about this “kale kick” in my kale coconut detox salad post, but I’m sure the warmer weather has a lot to do with eating all the kale and drinking all the green juice I can get my hands on. You may be thinking you can just go out and buy a green juice to save time and make life easier.

Sure, you could do that and sometimes I do it too. I’m not against a fresh, raw, cold-pressed juice here and there (make sure the juice you buy is ALL of those things), but there’s something about making it at home that brings about a new appreciation for fresh produce, ya know? Plus, blending it up in a high speed blender allows you to keep all the fiber and phytonutrients from the skin of the veggies and fruit, rather than stripping it away in pulp form from a juicer… which basically makes it sugar juice.

When you blend it up at home, you get to keep all that goodness and fiber in. This keeps you fuller for longer and is SO MUCH MORE nourishing than a store-bought green juice. Investing in your health and investing in a blender will change the way you look at smoothies and juices.

Because honestly, it’s all about texture.

The Blendtec changed my life and I don’t want to constantly promote an expensive blender but until you know what a blendtec or vitamix can do for your health, you won’t understand the investment. I use it multiple times a day. It’s SO powerful and will last you 8 years or longer. The smoothness aspect and the fact that it can turn veggies into a juice as smooth as the juice from a juice bar had me sold immediately. You’ll be sipping the smoothest of smoothies while making homemade almond butter and healthy ice cream.

Don’t want to get too off topic here but having the right blender makes the world of a difference when trying to make your own creations at home.  It’s as simple as having the right tools and once you have them, you’ll have no idea how you ever lived without them.

I love green smoothies! At first I started making them for health reasons and hated the taste. With time I developed a taste for them and now can live without them! You have given an interesting combination of ingredients. Definitely got to try it!

      Hi Shannon,

Your Skin Loving Refreshing Juice recipe is just amazing.
I would love to feature this in our website, Greenthickies. Would it be okay if I used one of your images here for it? I will not be posting the actual recipe, but only one image, title, a small quote and link back here.
      Will that be all right?

      Thanks a lot 🙂

Great juice recipe for skin. I noticed there’s also lots of good weight loss ingredients in here, too, like turmeric, ginger, cayenne, and cucumber. I like adding the first three I mentioned to a lot of my weight loss juice recipes, and cucumber is such a good filler for low sugar volume in a green juice. I, personally, like blending some of my green drinks and I like juicing a lot of them. It’s true that you get the fiber from blending, and you made some good points about that, but juicing allows you to concentrate a pile of vegetables and fruits into a juice giving you more nutrients. I think they both offer something that the other doesn’t.

I agree with you about the Blendtec and Vitamix both being good blender choices. Great post, Shannon! I’m going to be sharing this with my Twitter and Facebook people, and we’ve already Pinned it on our juice recipe board. 🙂

Are you able to meal prep these for the week? If so, would you suggest throwing them in the freezer, fridge, etc?

Hi Jessica! You could meal prep them, although I always recommend them fresh. You could make enough for the week and then leave one covered in the fridge for the next day while freezing the others – then take one out each night before and let it defrost in the fridge overnight. Hope this helps!

now that I’m studying to become a integrative he now that I’m studying to become a integrative health practitioner, I’ve realized to a greater extent how one way of eating may not be perfect for everyone. how being strictly #plantbased isn’t a top priority for everyone. how different we really are. I’ve recently come to accept this, even though I will promote plant based until the day I die. my feelings have evolved over time. I used to be more pushy and believe my way of eating was the only way! but the reality is, there is no one diet and it’s infuriating when doctors push one diet only! its what works for YOUR body and it can change over time (depending on many factors). while this may upset some people, this will be apart of my job. as a practitioner I will have to meet people where they are at and guide them with an open mind. I can’t assume or expect that everyone will want to be plant based tomorrow! while I can always promote “the more plant foods the better” type of mentality (and I promise you, I will!) there is something called bio-individuality, meaning “there is not a one-size-fits-all diet, each person is a unique individual with highly individualized nutritional requirements”. what I will also promote is intuitive eating and really tuning into what your body wants and needs, and allowing that intuition to sharpen and grow (and hopefully it leads to more plants 🌱😬). doing this takes so much practice… to trust what your body is telling you is hard and confusing in the beginning. I think the change for me was allowing what I wanted to eat at first and it slowly evolved to wanting to choose healthier options because I felt better that way, but also knowing when I need vegan mac and cheese or french fries or ice cream and not making a big deal out of it. and not labeling any food as “bad” but rather just “food”. this didn’t happen overnight though! tell me below - how have you become more intuitive with eating habits? how do you tune in? photo by @sarahiltonphotography & I put a little filter on it 💗 #intuitiveeating
DETOX: in order to detox and not feel like total c DETOX: in order to detox and not feel like total crap, it’s essential to open up your drainage pathways first. although not glamorous to talk about, this is the most important step for any health protocol. setting the foundation… just like building a house. there are no quick fixes in detoxing! for example: you don’t want to jump into a parasite cleanse but have your detox pathways blocked… this includes making sure you are peeing, pooping, sweating and moving your lymph every single day. and when I say pooping, I mean 1-3 times per day. ideally 2-3 or after large meals. if you are constipated while killing off parasites, you are not going to feel good at all because they need to be eliminated quickly and if not, the pathogens/toxins they release can get re-circulated in the body. take it from me because I didn’t know about any of this while doing a parasite cleanse… I was bed ridden, had fevers, my face broke out, I was puffy and bloated. this was not fun at all! ⁣⠀
⁣⠀
>> So how do you open up your drainage pathways (and keep them open)? ⁣⠀
• proper hydration, ideally with mineral drops⁣⠀
• daily movement to break a sweat (I love using my @higherdose sauna blanket in addition to movement)⁣⠀
• balanced whole food diet: lots of veggies and fruit, fiber from real food, nothing processed, no refined sugar⁣⠀
• bowel moving herbs if you are consipated (bowel mover from Microbe Formulas), coffee enemas, tudca (to keep bile moving, liver support) and include a binder if you use any of these (I like bioactive carbon binders from Microbe Formulas)⁣⠀
- clean products: beauty, skincare, cleaning, etc⁣⠀
- air quality: open the windows, get a @airdoctorpro air filter, plants⁣⠀
- proper sleep: 7-8 hours⁣⠀
- healthy mind: mediation, yoga, breath work⠀
⠀
I hope you find this helpful! Let me know if you have questions below! #detoxprotocol #drainagepathways
